Lucky Life Music? Pacha Ibiza? They always say that once things pick up momentum, everything will just flow. This is certainly the case with this soaring, new label. The story goes like this: Lucky Life Music launches on a catamaran in the height of the Ibiza summer 2014. Mike Parry and Ben Fairhurst started the label, with no official music releases – just a great idea connecting a bunch of talented artists and contacts, and throwing a party on a boat.
With gigs lined up at Space Ibiza, Pikes Hotel, on a couple of boat parties and the 5 star catamaran, the label got off to a steaming start. Throw in some official releases, some very successful parties, and a range of epic new artists, Lucky Life Music (only being 9 months old) is set to devour new heights and will be hosting their debut showcase of music and artists in Summer 2015.
You can only imagine the excitement levels when the posters were printed and the artists were booked for the night of the 10th April, the label’s first gig at Pacha Ibiza. Probably the most renowned club in the world, Pacha is the place all DJ’s want to play. With an immense sound system, beautiful dancers, disco cushions, flowing drinks and home to the biggest artists in the world, the club was filled to the brim before it was even 1am.
There was a good mix of tourists, island residents, industry contacts and brand new faces. As Pacha is the only club that stays open all year round, it is never one to disappoint, and coupled with the Lucky Life crew, it certainly had an air of colour and an energy of electric vibes.
Big ups to the Chronic Cowboys, whose groovy beats took the room to a bouncy level. Next up was Manu Gonzalez, island local and favourite, whose set was closed with a massive round of applause (almost unheard of!). Manu’s ibicencan influence was felt, as his experience on dancefloors around the island was brought to a head in the global room on this night. Last but not least, we had label boss Ben Fhurst start his massive set with a special intro that led us onto a 2 hour set, closing Pacha with some chunky house beats that had the dancefloor teeming.
The club was adorned with neon dancers, world class lighting and disco balls. What made the night was the people, music and atmosphere – all the ingredients to a standard Lucky Life party.
There are big things to come for Lucky Life Music this year with gigs in Amsterdam and South Africa before the season events kick off. Watch this space.
